GVERSE Geophysics, an integral part of the GVERSE GeoGraphix suite, offers a cutting-edge seismic interpretation and analysis module. One of its standout features is the ability to autopick horizons in multiple 2D lines. This autopicking tool is designed to streamline the process of picking horizons across intersecting 2D seismic lines, providing users with a time-efficient solution. GVERSE Geophysics, a seismic interpretation and analysis module that is 100% integrated with all GVERSE GeoGraphix modules, enables users to create synthetics and geobodies, pick faults and seismic attributes, autopick 3D horizons, and much more. The autopick horizon 2D feature enables users to track horizons on intersecting 2D lines based on a marked horizon on a source 2D line. Here’s a step by step guide to autopicking horizons in multiple 2D lines:
In GVERSE Geophysics, users can initiate the autopick horizon feature by following a straightforward process:
- Open a 2D seismic interpretation in GVERSE Geophysics.
- Interpret a horizon on any 2D seismic line.
- Navigate to the Horizons tab in the main menu and choose the Track on 2D lines option.
- A new window, Track on 2D Horizons, will appear. Select all the desired 2D seismic lines to execute the auto-track workflow, and click the AUTO TRACK button to initiate the process.
NOTE: It is advisable to perform Mistie analysis first if the 2D lines are unbalanced. Horizons will be tracked on all selected 2D seismic lines if they intersect. The 2D Auto Tracker utilizes horizon pick parameters, such as fine-grain picking, amplitude threshold, and amplitude test, to auto-pick horizons in bulk on multiple 2D lines. The auto-picking ceases when certain criteria are met, such as reaching the end of the horizon or no further peak being found, based on the amplitude threshold, etc. - Close the opened 2D seismic line to review the results of the auto-track for horizons.
- This Auto-track functionality is also available in the 3D view of GVERSE Geophysics. Auto-tracked horizons will also be visible in the 3D view of GVERSE Geophysics, as both map view and 3D view are synchronized. Any changes made in one view will reflect in the other.
How to run the 2D Auto Tracker in the 3D view of GVERSE Geophysics - Display all 2D seismic lines in the 3D view of GVERSE Geophysics.
- Interpret a horizon on any 2D seismic line while staying in the 3D view.
- Click the Track on 2D lines button available on the Horizons ribbon; a new window will pop up. Select all the desired lines on which the horizon needs to be auto-tracked and click the AUTO TRACK button.
- Zoom out from the current zoom level, hide displayed 2D lines, or rotate the 3D view using the right mouse button (MB3) to observe the results.
The GVERSE Geophysics Autopick Horizon in Multiple 2D Lines feature presents a significant time-saving advantage for users dealing with extensive 2D seismic data. This tool enables rapid horizon picking over numerous lines simultaneously, eliminating the need for manual intervention in each line. The synchronization between map and 3D views ensures a comprehensive understanding of results, enhancing the overall efficiency of seismic interpretation.
